Micro-teaching Reflection

For my Microteaching lesson, I chose to teach a board game called Insider which I often teach and play with my own friends. The rationale for choosing this game was that it is easy to understand and quickly taught. The reason it is so accessible is that it draws from previous knowledge of games such as "20 questions" and deception games such as "mafia" or "werewolf." Going into the lesson, I was aware that these games are very cultural and not all students would have known about or how to play these games. Luckily, every member had this pre existing knowledge and so, the explanation of the game went by smoothly.

By the end of the instruction, my group-mates were able to play the game successfully we had a great time! Of course, this was the entire objective of my lesson. However, reading Danielle's comment I had overlooked the fact that I did not state what the learning objectives were and this could have been better explain explicitly. I also note that I could have provided more positive support for successful understanding for my friends as Jashan wasn't sure she understood it even though she fully did!
